DESIGN PROCESS

“Good design is making something intelligible and memorable. Great design is making something memorable and meaningful.” – Dieter Rams

Although we price projects on a case by case basis, this is the design process we offer to our clients.

PHASE ONE: Initial Consultation

Andrea Volter incorporates award-winning architects and contractors who specialize in a wide range of residential and commercial projects.

We begin every design project with a complimentary one hour design consultation (preferably in home) to discuss the rooms you would like designed, your specific needs, personal style, timeline, budget and design requirements that will work for you and your family. Our first meeting is crucial, not only to learn about your design project but to examine our compatibility and determine whether we will be a good “fit” for working together. Once we feel that we can mutually collaborate together on your project I will follow up with a letter of agreement that details the scope of work of your project and the fees for it.

PHASE TWO: Design Development

After we receive the signed letter of agreement and deposit, I will begin developing the design concept. During this phase I draft floor and furniture plans, any elevations or drawings needed to convey custom cabinetry, window treatments, bedding, etc. At this time the various trade services I use will be introduced to you. They are essential in making our vision and concepts come to life.

This is when the actual designs from the plans begin to take shape. We will be making selections and decisions based on your style for any new furnishings, fabrics, lighting, flooring, accessories, appliances and interior finishes.(paint colors, wallcoverings, etc.) Samples and swatches will be brought to the spaces being designed to ensure that the colors and materials work perfectly. Most importantly, collaboration with all design team members, vendors and the client is essential during this phase to ensure a meticulously beautiful plan and outcome. I call it “Creative Collaboration”.

PHASE THREE: Design Concepts

PHASE FOUR: Product Orders & Administration

Upon approval of Phase 3 this is where merchandise ordering, lead times, scheduling and project coordination begins.Through my design resources, and vendors I will order the furnishings, fabrics and design elements specified. This also includes any lighting fixtures, flooring materials, rugs, carpeting, upholstering, accessories, plumbing fixtures and appliances. Merchandise is tracked, scheduled to be received at the warehouse , inspected and then white glove delivered and installed. Communication with all parties in this process is key to creating a fluid, seamless process.

Once the merchandise has been delivered and installed the final phase is in the arrangement of the  accessories, art and detailing to make your home uniquely yours. The job is completed upon the final walkthrough making sure you love the results. It is important to me that you are 100% happy. With your approval a photography session will be scheduled for my portfolio and any possible marketing or editorial opportunities.
